About Bionatura

Certifications & compliance

Bionatura is committed to high standards of quality, safety and environmental responsibility, and works with a range of recognised standards and approvals behind its products. This page explains the standards Bionatura works with, what they mean, and how the brand thinks about compliance — including the important difference between bio-based and certified organic.

The standards

What standards does Bionatura work with?

Bionatura references a range of internationally recognised standards across quality management, environmental responsibility and product approval — quality management and good manufacturing practices in how products are made, biobased credentials for applicable ranges, and product approvals in the markets it serves. Because certifications have validity periods and specific scopes, any badge shown reflects what is current and applicable.

Quality management & GMP

Products made to consistent, documented standards, following recognised quality management and good manufacturing practices.

Biobased credentials

Biobased and plant-derived credentials for applicable ranges, describing where the ingredients come from.

Product approvals

Recognised registration and conformity approvals in the markets where Bionatura's products are sold.

Each standard has its own scope and validity. Where a certification is shown on the site, its current status is confirmed first — and for the standards behind production specifically, see the manufacturing & quality page.

An honest distinction

Bio-based vs certified organic — what's the difference?

These two are not the same thing, and Bionatura is careful to describe its products accurately. The difference matters for both customers and the brand.

How Bionatura describes itself

Bio-based & plant-derived

Describes where a product's ingredients come from — largely renewable, plant-based sources rather than petrochemical ones. A product can be bio-based without being certified organic.

A separate certification

Certified organic

A specific certification with its own rules and audits. A biobased certification is not an organic certification, and Bionatura does not claim certified-organic status.

For that reason, Bionatura is best described as plant-based and bio-based, and treats "organic" as brand positioning rather than a certification claim. See the wider case on the Why Bionatura page.

Consistency

What does quality management mean for Bionatura?

Quality management means Bionatura aims to make its products to consistent, documented standards, so that what leaves the facility matches what the brand promises. Good manufacturing practices cover how products are formulated, produced and checked — supporting consistency from batch to batch, and from the laboratory through to the finished product. For customers, that is meant to translate into products they can rely on, order after order.

Market approvals

Is Bionatura approved for sale in its markets?

Bionatura points to product approvals in the markets where it operates, including recognised registration and conformity schemes. Because approval requirements differ by country and by product type, the specific approvals that apply depend on where a product is sold and what it is. Some products — particularly disinfectants and specialist items — may require registration with local authorities before they can be marketed, and those requirements are always met. If you need confirmation for a specific product or market, the team can help.

Ongoing responsibility

How does Bionatura approach product compliance?

Bionatura treats compliance as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-off exercise. That means being precise with language — plant-based and bio-based rather than certified organic — and backing specific claims with evidence. This careful approach is intended to build trust, and it sits alongside the brand's wider commitment to quality, safety and the environment.

What certifications does Bionatura have?
Bionatura references a range of recognised quality, environmental and product-approval standards; the current standards and their validity are set out on this page and should be confirmed before relying on any badge.
Is Bionatura organic?
No. Bionatura is plant-based and bio-based, which describes the ingredient origin; certified organic is a separate certification the brand does not claim.

Bio-based and plant-derived describe where ingredients come from; certified organic is a specific certification with its own audits. They are not the same.
Is Bionatura ISO certified?
Bionatura references ISO-based quality management in how its products are made; the current certification status should be confirmed before it is shown as a badge.
Is USDA Certified Biobased the same as USDA Organic?

Does Bionatura follow good manufacturing practices?
The brand references good manufacturing practices and quality management in how its products are produced.
